Not really, if they stop firing, just dump a little 15w40 (diesel engine oil) in that SOB and it'll keep going. That's like....a high speed special forces (wannabe) move though, so I don't know if we're allowed to do it in the guard. But we do anyways. Also, I've never successfully burned out a .50 barrel, even in a 1200 round bout.
Depends if its mounted or unmounted on a floor tripod. In this case you want to have firm control with both hands and a steady but fierce standing position in the said truck rhinos in. When reloading, you use a under hand pull with your firing hand, preferably the right hand, when you fire a real one you'll see why. Since its a bigger gun you will use a good amount of force when pulling back on the slide where the "Handle" will be. When you pull this back it will cock the rounds into place. I don't rock hair anyway, haven't rocked actual hair since I was 12. I just think its funny when people lie, get called out and have no proof to back it up and yet trickle back into old habits. Criminals have the same mentality.
Don't worry dude, I was a door gunner on the Space Station.

I dont need proof =) I dont want ya'll to glorify me, I could care less what ya'll think. I get my cool guy training, schools privileges and family first morale here. In my unit, were not regular guys nor run the same way as regular units. A non SF guy wont understand, specially not reservists or gaurdsmen, ya'll dream of getting where I am.
Im sorry ya'll think Im making this up, but I could care less what ya'll think of me. I love my work, yes Im a supply guy but each of us are asked of more in this kind of unit. I train, supply and go over the wire with the team guys. Plus talk to them everyday like buddies. Im pretty much a team guy with a missing tab, I've had the same training they've had. =) Im married now with a loving wife, hoping to start a family, ranger tab most likely wont happen. I'd rather not be away with a oda constantly and not see my kids on daily basis.
You guys can go ahead and hate on me because you assume Im lying cause what I say is too good to be true, well hell yeah it is. Hell, they based call of duty and MOH on my unit and its sister units.

Bitch, go put on a strap on and satisfy your husband and quit making a dumb loud mouth blond out of yourself. You're not doing him or you any favors by starting shit with other service members about your pathological lying husband. Hes a Fraud, now go do something productive with your 23 year old young self like cleaning a kitchen or mopping a floor. You're bitching to the wrong guy, you have absolutely no weight here you girl.
Hahaha... seriously? When I was stationed at Ft. Carson, I met a bunch of the 10th Special Forces group guys. They were a humble group of men. Quiet professionals. One of my platoon sgt's was an ODA guy at one point. He gave up the life due to constant deployments. Another one of my squad leaders quit after making it through phase 1 of the Q course. He decided family was more important to him. My platoon leader was Ranger and Sapper qualified. Humble men, imminently capable.
On the other hand, there were also the guys who walked around fingering the SF unit patch and bringing it up whenever anyone was around to hear. These... were the water boys. And you knew them whenever you found them.
What's to be taken from this?
True professionals aren't in it for the glory or for recognition of what they do. They do it cause they think they're making a differance and they have a deep comittment and personal pride in it. They don't belittle other people or insult other members of the military because they think their shit smells sweeter then everyone else's.
Hell, maybe it's changed since then. I dont know.
But I do know, I saw a lot of joe's get killed over, doing their job... Dirty Guardsman as well as your poor foot-pad infantrymen. They did more and gave up more and deserve better then to be talked down to by a piece of trash who values a scrap of cloth with a line of script on his shoulder over true honor, loyalty and sacrifice.
You serve yourself better with silence.

When you're charging the fifty, you have to overcome the pressure of the mainspring, which is quite powerful. Not only that, but you're also partially retracting that heavy ass barrel. From where the rhino is sitting, he doesn't have enough leverage to be able to do that.. I don't care if he has arms like Ahnold in his prime.
Not being a douche, just telling ya like it is. Of course... I'm no Ranger/SF/Delta super man... just used one for ten years...
And its a little thing in any case.

I take no offense to hearing the plain and simple truths about things. I'll try to keep aware of that factoid later in the book, though I do have another question- do .50 gunners save trouble by charging their weapons before a mounted patrol, leaving them ready to rock and roll, or is that considered unsafe?
Awesome. Your chain of command dictates your ready status when you leave the gate. In most actual combat zones I've been too, the procedure was, you'd roll out the gate, charge your weapon, test fire into a berm or into a mountain or something... then roll with a piece of brass or something stuck under the butterfly trigger, like this.

The newer .50's have been retrofitted with actual safety catches though, which is nice.
