We all know that the dad is secretly proud of her beating someone up.

no,no, you treat people how you want to be treated. Beat them up for physical harm. Or theft. Definitely theft. No one steals from you without punishment unless they stole something insignificant or are a good friend to have that benefit of the doubt. Don't get me started on physically harmful bullies and how they deserve getting beat up the most when possible. At least ignore audible insults. Bodily harm is a green light for self defense.
"Now Daisy, some people will tell you that they went through their whole lives ignoring the bullies who hit them and called them names, talking to teachers and other authority figures like they were told, and who received absolutely no benefit by doing so while the bullies got joy out of seeing them get more and more miserable. But... um... be nice anyway, because... uhh..."
Don't get me wrong, I adore these parents being supportive of their kid and reinforcing sensible rules and stuff, but hooo boy does hearing that stuff make me realise just how hollow and full of crap it was most of the time when told to me.

I agree on the 'Not for everything solution' part.
[I had to just cut-out most of my reply, 'cause I realized I was writing a short story that would most likely just bore you/anyone, to death! My bad!]
My childhood saw this scenario happening, many, many times. Back then (And I'm hitting '60', very soon, so you know how far back I'm going), bad children/students were still paddled, at school (and home, of course). So, Corporal Punishment was a thing. Violence to curb committing violence. The irony in this was not lost on my young mind, but dealing with bullies growing up (and I/my friends had our share!), I learned the value of setting them on their butts instantly. For some reason, that tended to cure them of being a bully! (At least, to me/my friends!).
Of course, this doesn't warrant hitting others w/o cause. A lesson I took to heart as a child, and have kept close ever since!
I just don't have any patience or tolerance for bullying, and that's one trait that hasn't lessened as I got old/er.
