Zaurmons (Zaurumonsu) was the 35th Dark Horror Kaiju Robot used by the Zelans as the Monster of the week in the Episode Number 30 of the anime Dino Mecha Gaiking: "The Dinosaur of the Jungle".

_Appearances and Abilities_
Zaurmons was a Dark Horror Robotic Beast that resembles a massive Stegosaurus, that was left by the Ancient Zelans in what became today the Swamp of Death in the Jungle south of the City of Palenque in Mexico and turning into something of a local legend to the Region. It was Green in Color with Yellow Lines running over its top and back, with lighter tone of Green in the underbelly with a Purple lines (yellow at times); the lower legs sport Dark Green stripes and white claws; it sport two rows of brown and orange spikes with grey ones running throw the tail (though at times these have been shown to be brown as well).

The Monster primary weapon were laser beams fired from the spikes, its bite, tail and strong body alloy, as well, was capable of swim.

Possibly the mythical Mokele-mbembe was the inspiration for Zaurmons, another suppose Dinosaur that made it to the present whose sightings were been reported in the decade around the creation of the series, though the Cryptic is from Africa and is often depicted as a Sauropod. Zaurmons was also one of only two dinosaur theme Kaiju used by the Zelans, the other been Nessie Q in the tail end of the series.

_Story_
An Exploration team searching for the Mythical Zaurmons is attack in the Jungles of Mexico at the hands of the Dark Horror Monster – what a shock! - and Team Daiku Maryu flies to Mexico task to search for the missing Explorers; after finding the wreckage of the Helicopter and a minor scare with turbulence, with troubles with the compass, they make camp at Palenque Ruins site, which Sanshiro, Pete and Fan Li search the ruins for any sign of Zelan, while Yamagatake and Bunta explore the Swamp to test their compass. The 1st team discovers a tomb with the image of a rocket in a pedestal, while the 2nd found to problem with the Compass.

Sanshiro, Fan Li and, again, Yamagatake search the Swamp once more for the Missing explorers on the Bazolar, their movements been watch by The Generals and the Emperor, who plot to deplete the Daiku Maryu of crew, having search teams getting lost one by one; this would allow a full attack on the defenseless vessel with the Beast. The villains activate a Magnetic field that screws with their Compass and the Bazolar comes under attack by vines which wrap around it, wanting to cut the vines, they find Hachiro instead of hatchets in the trunk compartment, who tagged along wanting to see a Dinosaur. As they try to cut the plants, they discovered these are artificial, as well their communications are jammed by the magnetic field in the area. The group continues their search, with Sanshiro putting markers along the way, but these are removed by Dark Avian Soldiers.

After been swarm by Leeches in the swamp, the group comes to rest on a cliff where they find carvings of Humans slaves under the feet of a Giant. As they continue their trek through the Jungle over Alligator infested waters, the Daimonji, having heard nothing from them, tasks Pete, Sakon and Bunta to find them on Skylar, though they too lose contact as they enter the magnetic field zone. Meanwhile, the Sanshiro's party comes under attack by Zaurmons and climb up a hill and as they take refuge in a cave, Sanshiro find the corpse of one of the Explorers.

Okay Chaps – never become Explorers; it equates to death, as Gaiking has demonstrated time and time again.

Skylar then arrives, tries to fight Zaurmons, but is tail whipped and crashes. The Beast then leaves to attack the Daiku Maryu, commanded by Daimonji and Midori; Sanshiro's and Pete's parties use the rafts of the Explorers to travel back via the river, facing the rapids, as the Beast begins its attack on the ship, with Daimonji in the controls, getting a head injury during the battle; as the beast holds a tight grip on the Daiku Maryu, the Doctor repels it with a Dragon Cutter, though Zaurmons destroys these with its electric attack. The Monster then tail whips the ship causing damage to the hull. However, Daimonji and Midori see Sanshiro and the others had made, and distract the Beast with missiles, allowing them to board the ship; now back at their posts, Pete lifts the Daiku Maryu up into the air as Sanshiro launches the Gaiking Face Open mode, to battle the Monster, but the Gaiking Missiles failed to break through the monster's alloy. Pete provide back up by using Giant Cutter, slicing a hole in the beast's hide, allowing Gaiking fire Hydro Blazer into the opening, eliminating the monster for good.

After the battle, the damage caused to the ruin uncovers more pictures of giants commanding Mayan Slaves and rockets, revealing these to be images of ancient Zelans with them been responsible for the death of the Maya Civilization.
