Original Species: River Snuffler
The River Snuffler is yet another mammal that inhabits the northern parts of the Shangrila Continent. This close relative of the Snuffle Skulker chose an aquatic lifestyle, typically dwelling in slowly-flowing, shallow rivers in spots too tight for the Black Devil Crocs and other large river monsters.
The snuffler uses its long, prehensile nose both as a snorkel (thus limiting the need to surface and be at risk from any passing wyverns) and as a tool for locating clams, crayfish, and other small invertebrates that hide in the muck.
Due to its prey preference, it is not aggressive towards creatures of a similar size to it (that is, unless it gets attacked first). The River Snuffler is a curious and inquisitive mammal and is likely to investigate any new creatures or objects within its territory. If threatened it can bite or scratch smaller foes, but if faced with a large predator it will escape and hide among the roots and sunken logs that litter its habitat.
