Well, equine morphs are done various ways, but the eay I've been seeing them lately is mimicing the rear legs of the horse. Study of both human and equine anatomy is REALLY helpful in deciding how the artist would like to show their character.

Personally, I like longer canons and larger hooves, some like shorter canons, or smaller hooves.

ShinigamiGirl ( http://www.furaffinity.net/user/shinigamigirl/) and Megan Giles are a couple of my favorites. Meg was a really big inspiration for me when I started drawing equi-morphs. :3
