Alorans are a technologically advanced alien race, known for their openness to other alien races (so much so that xenophilia is a well documented and inheritable trait). They stand roughly at human height (slightly shorter), and have bony extrusions along their face and in various other places (notably the sides of the neck and the shoulders). Their hair is not spiny, but instead naturally forms tufts; when wet, it becomes straight and re-tufts as it drys.

The Aloran shown is Iie'cia, fleet captain of the Library of Alokai, which, to the public eye, is simply the Aloran library system (with minor activities in other areas, such as setting standards, much like ISO), but behind the facade, it is a massive intelligence agency, similar to the British Library in Read or Die, but in an interstellar scale.
