Asher hears a loud boom reverberate through his home, and upon looking out the window he sees something falling form the sky at high speeds, a huge plume of smoke trailing behind it. A space ship had just crashed on the other side of the hill next to home.
He stared for a second, listening to the crash echo over the hills. Then he snapped to and sprinted for the front door, grabbing the keys to his work truck. There was nobody else around for a few miles, and if he didn't go out there, no one would—not in time anyway.
