Being a timid Leafeon, it's a pretty common occurrence to be seen as an easy target.
This Arcanine seems to have realized, and has some not so good intentions with the poor loner.
The intentions were rather clear, and as much as Leafeon wasn't too fond of the idea of winding up as dog food, there wasn't much he could do.
Luckily for him, he seemed to have a bit of a distant admirer that shared in his wish for Leafeon to not be eaten, and stepped in to... "Solve things".
Sure he could have simply attacked the would be predator, or scared him off in some way, but given the perfect opening for a surprise ambush, there was a significantly more satisfying way to deal with the situation both in terms of irony, and sating his own hunger.
In a surprising turn of events, the Arcanine wound up being the one trapped in a gut, subject to endless taunting by the much smaller predator, and his intended meal. Not exactly the way he saw his day going.
Having saved the day, and gained himself a hefty meal, Flareon was content to sit back and spend some quality time with his leafy companion.
The belly rubs were certainly an added benefit.
