It was busy on Friday morning. There was less than a week of school left before summer, and everyone was finishing up on their final assignments.
When the lunch bell rang, Remy went outside towards the cafeteria. He noticed a line forming by the entrance.
There was a small table set up by the wall. Stephanie, along with her best friend Heather, sat at the table.
"Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!" Heather called out. "Get your yearbooks on sale now!"
Remy smiled. Why not? He had a few dollars with him.
He got on line with the others and waited.
But after a few minutes, he grew worried. He also wanted to have his lunch before it was too late. Luckily the line was moving at a fair pace.
Heather continued calling out while Stephanie sold the yearbooks to the waiting students.
When it was his turn, Remy had just enough money to purchase one.
"Hello Remy," Stephanie smiled. "Would you like a yearbook?"
"Sure," he said. "How much are they?"
"Five dollars."
Remy pulled out a five and gave it to her.
Stephanie exchanged the dollar for the book.
He thanked Stephanie and headed for the cafeteria. But inside he noticed there were fewer kids eating there.
He looked at the clock. 12:50. He had only ten minutes left.
Remy had spent nearly his entire lunch break on line. All he could do now was quickly eat his lunch and rush back to class.
Despite his wasted time, he was still glad he got his yearbook from Stephanie.
