*sniff* I'm not crying. YOU'RE CRYING! *blows nose in a tissue*
Formerly a soldier of the Eggman Empire and a childhood friend of Sylas Prower. Their unit was assigned to capture a potential threat hidden somewhere on South Island and terminate anyone on the way. Charles tracked the target down, only to discover that said target was his sister (who he thought was dead) and her family. Unfortunately, before Charles could do anything, the rest of his squad caught up and proceeded to attack, surrounding the house they were living in. Charles noticed that his sister and her infant son had managed to escape and started to chase after them. Unfortunately, he was too late, as he saw his friend Sylas carrying his baby nephew, standing over his sister's corpse. After they had returned to New Yoke City with the baby in custody, Charles became disillusioned with the Empire, plotting a way to get his nephew out. The next day, Charles snuck into where his nephew was being kept, only to ran into another person also seeking to rescue the baby. Turns out that person was named Longclaw, and was a close friend of Charles' sister, who had promised her to look after her son should anything happen to her. They briefly came to blows until they were caught by some guards, forcing them to team up and escape with the baby. After escaping back to South Island (and clearing up a few misunderstandings, along with learning a few harsh truths), Charles, alongside Longclaw, formed a small resistance group to combat the Eggman Empire and raise his nephew, Sonic (who likes to call Charles "Uncle Chuck"), in his sister's stead. After a few years, Sonic brought home a young fox cub wearing a Eggman Empire academy uniform, who Charles recognised as Sylas' son. He was hesitant to accept the fox but believed that he could show the kid the truth of the Empire his father served and that he could succeed with him where he failed with his old friend. Unfortunately, Sylas has tracked his son down and attacked the resistance's village base. Charles confronted his former friend, giving time for Longclaw and Sonic to escape. And that was the last time Sonic saw his uncle...
Longclaw was a member of a long extinct clan who were close to the Ancients who knew the true intentions of the Eggman Empire (especially their leader), traveling around the world to find the Chaos Emeralds and the seven heroes who would one day save Gaia from the madman. One day, Longclaw rescued a young hedgehog woman from some pursuing robots and over the years, both Longclaw and the hedgehog became close friends, even trusting the hedgehog with her secrets and mission. The hedgehog eventually got married and had a son, who Longclaw recognised as one of the potential seven heroes, due to the energy she couldn't help but feel from him. Her hedgehog friend noticed this and knew what it means, so she made Longclaw promise that if anything were to happen to her, Longclaw would raise her son as if he was her own, to which Longclaw agreed. Sadly, that day came very soon, as Longclaw returned to the village her friend and godson were staying at, only to find the Eggman Empire attacking. She fought the soldiers off while trying to find her friend and godson, flying around the island, until she succeeded in finding her friend. Unfortunately, she was too late. Her friend was dead and her godson was abducted. Longclaw rushed after the solders who abducted her godson, chasing them all the was to New Yoke City the next day. Longclaw wasted no time tracking down where the baby was kept and ran into a hedgehog soldier who reminded her of her friend for some reason. They ended up in a fight, until they caught the attention of some other Egg Soldiers, in which, much to Longclaw's surprise, the hedgehog soldier fired at them, showing her where his loyalties initially lies. She discovered that the soldier in question is the brother of her friend, Charles the Hedgehog, and he wants to get her son (which in turn is his nephew) out of the empire. Longclaw agreed to an alliance and together, they escaped New Yoke City with the baby in tow. Once they were safe on South Island, Longclaw decided that her companion should know the truth and told him everything. Afterwards, they formed a resistance to fight against the Eggman Empire while raising and protecting her godson, Sonic, alongside Charles (or Uncle Chuck, as Sonic calls him) until one day, he would be ready. After a few years, she was surprised that the young Sonic came back with an Eggman Empire student with two tails, who Charles recognised. Before she could ask him what, the Eggman Empire attacked the resistance village. Longclaw grabbed Sonic and attempted to escape with him, but she was injured by the enemy commander, Sylas Prower. Thankfully, the student Sonic brought back with him, a fox cub named Miles (who also turned out to be the son of Sylas Prower), rescued Longclaw and Sonic and carried them far away from the village (she was surprised that the kid could fly with his tails). Longclaw then had a thought. What if the boy could also be one of seven heroes? She then knew what she had to do. He told Sonic that she loves him and forcefully broke free from Miles' grip, falling down towards the forest where the Egg Soldiers and Pawns were chasing them, hoping to hold them off. And that was the last time Sonic saw his godmother...
