I have no sympathy for the royals. They are far too self-centered and arrogant to be likeable. Except those kids. They're messed up and that's good. The King and Queen? Yeah, they deserve everything bad that happens to them.

This was a tough script when it came in. I saw what Jan was going for, but he had written and rewritten it after severe lack of sleep. He wanted something that seemed courtly with a touch of legal drama and lots of tension. I think we did a pretty good job. The Queen is in a giving mood today it seems.

"Your majesty, why are we talking about my new sentence in private?"
"We have a proposition for you. Would you care to be the Royal Liar?"
"Uh, what?"
"We would claim your sentence is to be placed under 'court arrest,' so we have an excuse for you to remain here. The truth will be that you shall do to the five nearest kingdoms what you did to us. Make up stories, arrange for the spread of disinformation, and create fake artifacts. Your goal is to make them wary of the idea of invading us the next time the royal family is indisposed."
"You'll trust me to do this for you?"
"Trust you? Of course not, that's why you'll be staying here and watched. However, you are the most able to accomplish this so your captivity will come with many advantages. You might even forget it's a gilded cage."
"Ah. So the court arrest will be real, but the pretense will be false."
"Yes. What say you?"
