Before we leave, our tutor wanted to show us something... It turns out that all monsters have these things called Genes... They dictate why and how we act, and make us stronger in elements and attributes... Our new friend, the Ivory Lagiacrus, shared one of their genes with my partner, and it made their thunder attacks stronger! If me meet new types of monsters that are willing to join us, we could experiment with even more types of Genes!
Genes are my equivalent to IQ Skills (if you've seen early pmd), the only difference being that they can be shared amongst your exploration team at the expense that most monsters will become exhausted and retire from your team afterwards. My current plan is to have them given at certain levels, and rarely inherited depending on what enemy monster you defeat. Sometimes, a feral monster may have rare genes that are slightly more powerful or different than they usually have. If you recruit this monster or defeat them, you may be able to pass the gene onto yourself, or another monster it could work better for!
Let me know what you think of the idea! Anyway, as for updates, I just finished implementing a customizable controls window which wraps up another thing I really wanted in the options. It's a little ugly, but it does its job for now! I was worried when I read that different operating systems and controller types may take completely different input axes- and I don't want some people to be completely unable to play the demo when I finish it, so now there's a window where you can enter your own inputs! That should fix any problems someone might have with controls and operating systems, and the keyboard will always work regardless, just in case..! Plus uh if you hate the controls because it feels weird I guess you can change it for that reason too lol-- anyway, happy friday!

I'm happy you think so! I agree! I hope that making 'builds' through genes and moves and monsters will be a lot of fun! And while move learning is its own separate beast, it would be awesome to see genes and moves come together to push monsters to higher limits, mastering their current element or maybe helping them use different elements than they're used to! And of course comfy build tech too, because sometimes pp-saver or divine protection sounds kinda nice... ^vv^
