Okay, what to say about today's images? Well, rather than sharing the rest of the monsters (I want at least a few of them to be a surprise), I decided to share a few of the items you might pick up here or there while inside the maze as well as the Logo I made for said Twine Game. Might as well address that first. "Belmont's Maze" is now called "Maze of Belmont". And the reason for the name change is simply.... because it genuinely looks better. That's it. Moving on!
First item on the list is the Potion of Power. While looking like your standard health potion you find int most RPG's, in reality it's a potion that increases your strength from a measly 5 to a full 18. Sure, you sacrifice a huge portion of your max health to obtain that strength, but it may or may not be worth it in the long run.
Next up is the Minotaur Munchie. A minotaur's favorite snack. It's sort of a health item, but it's also extremely rare and can only be found in one part of the entire maze. However, don't feel like you can't share it with... others. You get five of them to spend however you want. When consumed, it restores your HP back up to its maximum.
And on to row two, we have a Goodberry Pie... This is the main healing item in the game give you a full 20 HP per cake and they're distributed regularly via... well, Clocks. At first I was going to design an actual pie (and I did), but it didn't feel right, so I made a more cupcake like design instead. Yes, I realize this particular design is the worse of the lot and should really reconsider.
The fourth item in this collection is the Ball of Twine.... coincidently, the program I'm using to make said game is also called "Twine" so it's very fitting that this little ball (once found) can assist the player with a sort of "Fast Travel" to key rooms. I made it so that players wont feel discouraged if they're having trouble finding everything the game has to offer.
And last but not least, is the other healing item. The Mushroom Puff, this item only restores 5 HP. Well, sort of. Turns out the more you eat, the more effective it becomes. Although sometimes it will reset back to 5 HP. It's all thanks to a secret mechanic that I wont explain here as I think it'll be more fun for the players to figure out.
Now, when it comes to any of these items you have to be very careful on how often you rely on them. They all have some side effects. Might even say, that they're keys to specific endings depending on how you decide to use them. In fact, all of them (except obviously the Ball of Twine) lead to some kind of TF Ending. Some more predictable than others so wish me luck writing out some good ones. Feel free to guess what they are, I wont confirm nor deny. All of them have already been decided and are set in stone.
Speaking of, I am currently working on the images you get to see with each ending. So far there are 24 different endings, but I've only really drawn up 4 of them so far.
