So I finally think I got my studio set up sort of the way I want it. There is now a sound blanket over the window to block the noisy traffic outside and I have a "desk" for my computer made out of a keyboard stand and a 100 year old glockenspiel in its case.
So here is the first real test recording :) I think hat the customized reverb setting I created sounds a bit better than the garage band preset don't you?
This was all done in 3 takes and is a on track recording as in the guitar and vocals are being done at the same time into the same mic. Mic about 10 " from my face and angled away from the guitar (Rainsongs are awfully loud)

Well I don't know about mandolin. I did do this a while back that has a ton of overdubbing and a banjo though: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3974046/
I have never really been good at bass :/ on top of the fact that my skinny fingers have a hard time holding down the strings i have never really been good at coming up with good bass parts. So far I have only used bass in two projects and both times it took a few takes and I as never really thrilled with the result. I think I can play the hell out of some lead mandolin though:)
Thanks:)
