Wait, why did the military kidnap civilians instead of just using their own soldiers as unwitting test subjects?
Like they actually have done in real life?
And why did Minos cheat on him, twice?

There's gonna be a future story that does cover that. They did use a few of there own as a measure of untrained verses trained. Plus it gave them the chance to view how well one adapted within human society.
For the unworldly tech, try looking at "Meeting Minos" though it jumped ahead from where Rage started, it does answer that question
