Nyasia and Gaia
Time to talk about Nyasia in relation to Gaia. In a way, Nyasia had taken some inspiration from Gaia, both being purple cat like creatures probably would have clued you in on that. You could probably say that Gaia is like the big sister of Nyasia because of that, as this image from 
Fuzzy showcases what the relationship between the two would be like.
The reason Nyasia came out originated from
tato moving away from licensed characters from doing artwork. Wanting to still be involved in some community pictures still, I got a bunch of non-specific IP characters from them, Tink, Spinelli, Wisper, Mothera, Mimi, Glumjoy and of course Nyasia. I'm always one with multiple characters aren't I. Gaia herself had ties to Sonic so I couldn't specifically use her, but I wanted to have the purple cat concept still so Nyasia came about from that. Tato eventually left the community shoretly afterwards, but since I had some none IP related characters at this point I decided to expand upon the concept further, with the album of characters continuing to grow more and more thanks to various artists like 
Pukopop, 
liljdude, 
Rogeykun, 
OgnySky, anyone who's helped me brainstorm characters over on discord and way more.
There's also Pokemon and Digimon themselves having the situation where I had already adapted a lot of the characters I wanted to use into a pony already. New iterations of Pokemon and Digimon are coming out and there are certainly characters I like to adapt from them (Ellie from Digimon being the most prominent latest one from Digimon, and I've told myself I want to Tinkaton in some way from Pokemon, just haven't found the right way to do it yet.) but it is nice to try some entirely new species as well and have fun with what to do with them, some weird oddballs species choices as well that FA doesn't list too.
Here I am, talking in this history and looking back whilst Nyasia's gets a full Spank Check from Gaia. Nyasia almost certainly wants me to wrap this up. But I feel this will probably not be the last of these two messing with eachother.
