Exercise 1B from "Keys to Drawing" by Bert Dodson
Yeah, this should have been the practical lesson before I started drawing those peppers. But I just realised again, why I feared to have my own hand sketched. I got so many cramps I could not keep my hand steady, in fact had to open it up and of course spoilt the whole lesson with it, since I never got the angle the same twice (and that made it look off more than it usually would, I think). I really need a model other than myself for such things. Like the next exercise shall be to draw my eyes. Funny, I do have mirrors, but they're attached to walls and to big to remove. Either I draw anybody's eyes from a picture or wait till somebody visits me so I can draw his/her eyes.
Well, I did not want to upload it, but still - it's better to show all the failures (I stopped drawing in the end, I should have refined it more often, but the pain was too much), I suppose. At least then somebody might actually believe me when I say I cannot draw :P
Sketched in Autodesk Sketchbook, since I wanted to test some software before redeeming my voucher that I got along with my Intuos.

Well, holding my hand in a matching position, it looks like you're not off by THAT much, Khisa. Given that I have guy-hands, which tend to have longer fingers, I think it came out pretty darn well! All the creases are in more or less the right spots, nail shapes are about right, and the turn-in under the thumb looks proportionate. About the only thing I could pick out would be that the pinkey is a tad smaller than it looks like it should be, and overall the height of the fingers from the palm is a tad low.
Not bad at all, though! I think you did a good job, hands are classically one of the hardest things to draw!

Like I said it was moved too many times, so I did not get the angle of the fingers right. And my pinky is rather tiny compaired to my other fingers ^^"" - I do have hands that resemble a guy's, I suppose. <.< - they're big and strong and nothing slim or dainty. Maybe I'll do better when I get to draw other peoples' hands ^^
I can definitely see where that would be considerably tougher to do than a static model, for sure! Hands are one of those very fascinating studies of people, a lot like eyes and mouths. There's such a huge variety of different shapes, sizes and proportions. :)
I honestly would suspect that it would be a fair bit easier to draw someone else's hand, mainly because it would be easier for them to hold still than for you to have to hold still and draw at the same time.
