Yeah...so a few oC sessions back, I crammed out some old designs of mine which reminded me of GoW a bit.
I sat down today and just wrote up some stuff for it and I'll probably keep doing so for a time while working on those people pics ^^

Well...the sun wont be out for a few 100 years to come with us...
Earth Zero basically tells the story of the result of a Super-MCA in which we technically live in nuclear winter with all sorts of mutated creatures running around outside.
Also, the surface of the armor is mainly reflective, so it wouldn't be much of a problem, even if ^^

*whistles softly8 d...damn your write up, the armor, the effects @.@ crapy and hell I had an idea for a long story that involved something that sounded ALOT like this, and as i said before your armors look alot like what i had in mine. I was thinking of writing it but before i started thats when my friend Cmdr_Andor showed me your work...I.. um.. c..crap gah... frig... @.@

Thats the damndest thing I dunno what the hell I got thinking on either, it was of Titan after it was terraformed.
The planet was bombed by virus bombs and plasma orbit weapons until it was very very desolate, anywho when they terraformed it they began to accelerate evolution with a buncha bacteria etc similar to earth but when they did it (this was before the attacks) everything evolved all funked up and killingness and now after all the viral strikes etc they just kept evolving and evolved with the virus and became symboites to it and everyones guns have andidote in it and there's like 2% of the population left from what there is and they all live in 4 different cities which are rebuilt and surrounded by BIG DOMES!
Then there are straglers in the wastelands and such which have all manner of projectile weapons and they wear make-shift suits and such and live mostly underground and the cities military hunt them down even though they are bombarded by super evolved killing monster.. Man I wonder why I stopped writing bout it now lol.

Meh...we try to stay away from the open area...Humanity mostly lives in underground bunker complexes in different locations around the world.

The story itself is set about 20 years later, when Nuclear winter hasn't set in yet, but the environment has become so hazardous that we can't live outside anymore...

Perhaps, but hey - it's technological evolution. Like you said, they used to be big and bulky, and lacked radiation protection. Mark II fixed the latter issue, and the more the merrier :P
Props for a well-written description, it takes some imagination to write one for a piece of equipment, considering that i's purely fictional, operates in unknown environments, using unknown technology and used against unknown enemy.
But you know, i still think that any armor is doomed to failure, if you can't bow down in it properly :D That's going to be hard with such a large chest-area on that thing.

"Dodge it, it'll run out of ammunition soon."
"Sarge, i can't - the armor is too bulky"
"Hold tight, marine. Let me pick up my gun"

"Sir, it finally ran out of ammunition, sir. Praise the techs for making the armor glossy, the critter used itself up for nothing."
"I hate this job"
"Uhmm, sarge, sarge.. sir?"
"Yes, Marine .... >.>"
"That thing is throwing it's own body parts at me, and i'm sort of freaking out out here. What should i do?"

That solves a *very* serious problem.
Still, i believe that the suit has a big SPOF, a.k.a single point of failure - the head piece. What if i, being a slick and agile mutated hippopotamus, decide to bite your head off while jumping on you from behind? :D
It's like these medieval knights - an invulnerable walking tin can that can be killed with a simple pitch fork, if aimed for the neck. Chainmail cover will not protect against something think and pointy :)

I know, you can make an exo-skeleton *for* the exo-skeleton XD. Double the protection and firepower, quadripple the amount of ammo carried, scare the crap out of your Sarge, etc..
Though, logically, 'stacking' exo-skeletons in such a way would be pointless for any level but two, since the loss of agility and control, plus general responsiveness time would rise in geometrical proportions.
I know, you can make an exo-skeleton *for* the exo-skeleton XD. Double the protection and firepower, quadripple the amount of ammo carried, scare the crap out of your Sarge, etc..

I wonder if they could make them suits come in packs, like, if the top-level, tough one gets destroyed, then you'd pop out of there in a smaller, but still powerful suit. Not like, wearing the primary armor you'd climb into a bigger, secondary support armour - but actually in a single, sandwitched one.
Then you'd just have press a "shed primary armor" button, and voila. Props if the process would be followed by a violent explosion, shattering the primary armor apart and creating a sort of a fragmentation grenade effect.
