I looked up and caught this shelf fungi just as a stream of sunlight was hitting the top. The translucence and the way the gills sprang to life captured me and I almost forgot to get the shot. This was taken in the redwood rain forests of northern California.

I had to crop it way down. On up from the top was blinding direct sunlight. I had to burn and burn and burn the edge of the fungi to recover a little detail because it was so washed out.
Ice and snow are your haven and refuge. The forest is mine. I actually posted this one as my luminescence shot. Not nearly as awe inspiring as your snow wave, but magical none the less.

Ooo! Hot-spot! Nice job. Mmm, the forest is my habitat too, but what I got here is endless poplar bush. Still, you keep your eyes open and always remember that macro setting. Oh, and turn over rocks!
