Princess Beladore was not one of the "Class" mermaids, but was a natural extension of the cast who quickly endeared herself to me. Originally featured in Dominque the Ranger's story, Beladore of Gwened was introduced as a "Damsel in Distress" for the heroic ranger to rescue. In reality, however, the Princess was not only not in need of a rescue, but in fact had orchestrated the entire ordeal to escape unhappy circumstances. Beladore is very much the heroine of her own story, a headstrong woman seeking to define her own fate. The story still ends happily for both her and Dominique, just now how the Ranger expected.

Like Queen Ahes and Ghyslaine the Mage, Beladore has a direct inspiration in regional folklore, drawn from the tale of a princess of the city of Vannes, who, seeking to escape an unhappy marriage, fled to the castle lake and became a mermaid.

I decided to rework Beladore's look a little bit, making her look more like a princess, and removing some elements that I don't think match the style of her contemporary, Dominique.
