This was the very first model I made of a Quange mare, made from a modified plastic toy horse of an Arabian mare. This model was pretty straight forward, with the plastic toy horse as a base, and the body heavily modified with "A&B" epoxy putty. Plastic model finishes were used, with a thick base coat of flat black, then thin layers of grays to white were used. The dapples were created with an airbrush, with finer details added with a brush. The mane and tail are special "Crepe" hair, made for the model horse hobbyist, as well as her furry "Collar."
"Maard" is supposedly an early representative of the Quange Mare's demand for equal rights, as she stood in defiance against the stallion who abused her and the other mares in the harem. Enraged at the mare's insubordination, and then discovering the foal Maard was carrying was not his, enraged the stallion to draw a sword with intent on beheading the mare. Instead of going down submissively, Maard stood defiant, determined to fight the larger stallion to the death if need be. The stallion suddenly dropped dead without laying a hand on the mare because of a massive stroke. Thus the mare gained repute for killing her tormentor without even laying a hand on him.
