I think I have been drawing this throughout the autumn last year. I remember drawing in my backyard under the splendid warm sun of November, golden leaves on the trees all around. It was beautiful and truly inspiring. And curiously enough I managed to complete it on the very day the world was destined to end. So if it really had, I would at least had completed this drawing and thereforе die happy :D
I started it out as an idea sorts of related to some stories of mine. A personal project, so to speak. The title came to me later, while drawing it. I was thinking about the Kamelot song. One of my favorite.
What else to say? I like how some details came out, I like the lighting and colors and all.... although color pencils have their restrains and disadvantages as a media. Surely if I had drawn it in digital, it would have looked more refined. But I learned a lot while working on it, so I'm perfectly satisfied.
References: none, except for the ones in my mind. Oh, no, wait, I used a ref for the medallion - I drew it from life.
2B - 8B, HB graphite pencils +color pencils on A4 paper.
The scanner twisted the colors quite a lot so I had to do a few Ps corrections to restore the original hues. Never completely managed to, but this is the best I could do, and, frankly, it is close enough to the truth.
