Ok, now, I can probably say a lot about this drawing, but I'll restrain to the most notable stuff. First, like those of you who know / have tracked my traditional work so far would probably guess, this is yet another portrait of my friend, Paff, whom I haven't happened to see in a long while now.... but whose astonishing blond hair (Hell, I wish mine was a bit like it) seemingly keeps haunting my mind. Although that probably wasn't the only reason why I decided to draw him another portrait.
HOWEVER. This one is different from the rest. Why? Because for all of his portraits until now I used references (yes, this includes the dragon ones) and kept pretty much close to the photos. But not this time.
This time I used NO REFERENCE for his face. And I emphasize on that.
I drew his face purely relying on my memory and imagination.
Sort of an experiment, whether I can do it or not.
It turned out that I can. And it turned out even better than I had hoped.
Of course, I couldn't help myself but add a weird two-direction lighting to the face to make it more difficult (and my life - more interesting), but I think it kinda worked. I also added a background like the one from my portrait of Jon Schaffer. I liked that one and it works very well on portraits of musicians. Lastly, I admit I kinda made short work of the bass guitar and the hand, but they ain't the main focus of the picture, so I hope you'll forgive me that artistic crime.
I hope you like it.
Technical stuff:
Reference: like I said, none for the portrait itself.
However I used a reference for the shirt (he has one exactly like this): https://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/4.....31878099_o.jpg
Also, a few references for the head of his bass guitar, which is a Cort ACTION AS electric bass exactly like this one: https://static.zoovy.com/img/ramh/W...../action_as.jpg
2B - 8B, HB +red color pencil on A4 paper.
