COMMISSION NOTES
This is a deceptively simple pose. I haven't got a full handle on how to describe the difficulties, but I can list some trouble spots.
- The perspective: Something kind of like a three-point perspective (third point going towards the sky) except Titania's torso juts out, obscuring the third point. I might have enhanced this picture with more trees next to Titania pointing toward the sky.
- Getting the stance itself to read: Involved very gradual work to get subtle shading and lines
- Balancing what is proportional with what is proper. I often think too much about what is technically correct. Sometimes considering reality is a great help. Other times it slows you down. I suppose every time I stumble towards an uneasy balance.
I'm glad I saved my WIPS for this. I would have forgotten how much time Titania spent looking evil. It was the combination of her face in the shadow and that loom. I believe I was hoping for something kind of like Ariel in the Little Mermaid when she sings to Prince Eric before he wakes up.
