Alternate version of The little mermaid 2 : Return to the sea in which Ariel severely punished her daughter Melody for disobeying her by escaping from the family castle to make escapades in the ocean and sealed a pact with the witch Morgana to become a mermaid in exchange for the trident of her grandfather king Triton.

Although this ended well, with Melody's courage getting rid of Morgana by freezing her in a block of ice that sank into the ocean abyss, Ariel was particularly disappointed and horrified that her daughter had lacked discernment by being manipulated by Ursula's sister, while forcing her to commit the serious crime of stealing her father's trident, which almost caused an apocalypse on all the world's oceans.

Ariel had no choice but to punish Melody by binding/gagging her to a chair in her bedroom, where she spent 15 hours meditating on the consequences of her actions, while also realizing that what she had committed was far more serious than what she herself had done as a teenager when she signed a pact with Ursula during the events of the previous movie.
