Magnified to only a tenth of a degree of field of view, looking straight up a shaft 1,000,000 kilometers long. This tube acts as a medium for high velocity transport half way up a thordonian pillar, a type of planet sized tower megastructure.

Before a craft can begin building up speed as it travels through this tube, it needs to orient itself beforehand, a tedious process which requires aligning itself to travel straight up the shaft with a margin of only 100 km to either side. The tube itself being only 200 km in diameter, 5,000 times longer than it is wide.
