Maridia's Deep Space Sleep
I proudly present to you all an incredible picture of Maridia the Living World Floatzel done for Earth Day! ^.^
Of all my characters I have, probably no character utilized my most unique talents than Maridia with my knowledge of illustrating space art. >w> Now we finally get to see what I usually always showed on black paper with her in brilliant digital color!
The sunrise was a pretty neat effect to do, but it was done more for practicality than looks. Sunset/sunrise means that much of the sky should have minimal atmosphere so you can see space, and thus get a fairly unobstructed view of Maridia from atop her arm~
Done as a sketch on paper, scanned in, and painted in Photoshop CS5.

Wow, this is amazing! It's hard to comprehend the perspective you're going for here, but it's very well expressed. How much of a population does she have? (And what's it take to move there?)

I actually have no idea how many live on her and how you get there in the first place. @.@ At one point I considered making her the world my cast lives on but decided against it.

I imagine it is fairly normal due to her body naturally keeping the normal rhythms of a planet artificially in play in which balls would normally have, like rotation and magnetism. But the sky would vary a lot and you wouldn't have consistent day night cycles. Light "cycles" alone would certainly make this world develop its own way of making life adapt to it.
