I think the "Supposed to protect children" thing gets lost on a lot of folks.
These machines are as much victims as those they stalk in game. Their coding corrupted, programming redone to fit the needs of someone else's will.

Absolutely! For a fanbase as obsessed with the tiniest of nitty gritty details as FNAF's is, you'd think that would have registered more in the collective consciousness. Even in Security Breach it kind of gets glossed over in all the theorizing - despite verbal confirmation from Freddy himself - that they're not bad bots.
