I think sometimes i am overambitious, engaging in drawing things that might be above my skills. I have barely just started having fun with oils, so what would be a brilliant idea to paint after just two pics?
How about another furry cityscape? What could go wrong?
Let's say that my smallest brush, 0, is stil bigger than most of those tini-tiny details that i tend to put on pictures like this. Don't get wrong, it's still made on standard A4 paper piece (21x29cm!), some of them i had to put wtih colour pencils (i have double checked if they are oil based). And after first stroke i noteced that my basic building stone colour is too dark. And to brighten that you need looooots of white. But how about the pic itself?
Well, you know that i like to draw german cities, since i like their looks and i live in a one that used to be german for almost its entire history. So it's almost like drawing my own close neighbourhood. But this time i thought i needed a little change. Because i think there is one country, one of the greatest in the history of the world but suprisingly a bit underappreciated recently and also has very interesting, unique and beutiful cities. I am talking about France. I thought it would be nice to honour this country a little bit by drawing a regular street scene inspired by some other, not maybe lesser known cities there (Dijon, Orléans, Montpellier- i know, totally different parts of the country). I have tried to make this picture to feel as françois as possible. Architecture, streets, signs, shops, cathedral. And named after one of the common names of french streets over there and also a value which i keep personally in a very high regard.
