The nose reminds me of a cat and the muzzle.but overall,Your picture caught my attention.I love gunslinger girls :)

then you've probably never taken a closer look of a canine's muzzle from upfront. especially one with a lighter skin colour. :)

Did you color that with coloured pencil?

yes. black ink for the foreground figure, medium sepia ink pen for background and roadside features. the rest is coloured with coloured pencils from faber and other brands. and a dry paper towel. :)

I think the point of the ears and facial construction resemble a feline largely more than a canine. My first impression, given the tail as well, was of a feline until I read the description. Perhaps flattening the muzzle sides and rounding the ears would improve that. Cats have more pointed ears and more rounded muzzles. The clothing design and coloration were rendered well.

the long ears are part of the character reference. the muzzle looks roundish because of lack of contrast, I guess. I'll have to take that into account next time.

It can be hard to get the difference between perspective and a shorter snout right. Try using some refs of wolves with their face on the same angle and practicing :3

Also it could just be that you're so used to drawing felines XD My males look more like girls cause I draw girls too much so I struggle with male anatomy :x

quite possible. when I draw many canines for a while the felines gain funny noses. :)

have to do more different animals. I hate being stuck in stereotypes of any kind.

yeah i know the feeling! but i can't for the life of me stop drawing wolves XD

so that's why i did a couple of tigers lately, so my iron artist example isn't all wolves XD

you should see all the anatomy stuff I have. I've just got like a bajillion photos of animals I like/plan to draw on various angles, I've got photos of their skeletons and stuff, and I also have this "werewolf anatomy" book thing that  watergazer created that doesn't just have werewolves it's got like EVERYTHING and it has all the different muzzles and eyes and everything. I could email it to you or send over an IM? I use it sooo much.

oh, that book she promised me a printed version of, and when I ordered two issues (for me and a friend) she never delivered? along with all the art I bought? why not, if it fits an email attachment. I'd be very grateful for it. (in a non-ironic manner, that is.)

actually, I have 6 or 7 books on wolves, two on big cats, two on tigers, one on lions, one of bears, one of horses. all I need is to put them to use finally. XD
