Experiment Log No.5
Cycle 1591.402
A Distant Echo - Iterator 74
Its not really any secret in my Local Group that our creators rushed me out of the door. My status was less as a dedicated Iterator and more of a prototype for what would have been the Generation 4 series. Though plans changed near the end of my construction, my status as a 3.5 Generation Iterator remained the same! Unfortunately. They never really stuck around to help work out the bugs and kinks ahah!
As such I'm plagued with constant system restarts, a simple hitch-up in my Processing Strata causes a periodic split second cascade of shutdowns! Fuzes has kept a tally I think of how many times I simply drop in the middle of a conversation between him. Its not harmful, more annoying really, but its atop a LIST of nonstop interruptions and failures I experience every cycle. Processing limitations, over tuned safety buffers, nonstop errors and debugging. Inherently I am flawed.
While Fuzes takes out his anger towards his design and construction out by staving off entire sections of his Processing Strata and replacing it with conventional processors, I refuse to go down such an extensive path of self modification. His much more lax and lower restraints have let him go this far, but my creators efforts to ENSURE I will persist have made attempts at finding ways to fix my structure incredibly tedious.. But what if I wasn't the one enacting such repairs?
Introducing, Test Subject No.5.
While the last few tests with genetic modification and creating purposed organisms has been successful. I have mostly been in the dark about the whole process! As such, I took to receiving help from another Group of Iterators! My Creators left behind an extensive comms array pylon as apart of my combined structure with Fuzes. While Fuzes.. mainly uses it to commit acts of tomfoolery, I was able to come in contact with another Iterator. He was able to help teach some of the basics, even sent me some of his saved genetic data from his experiments.
The plans he sent was what he called an evolution of a prior purposed organism. What I was surprised to find was they were a Slugcat! I don't have very many in my Complex, though theres a certain Blue Ruffian who constantly accosts me and Fuzes... Regardless, it seems in my eagerness to press forward with experimentation, I failed to check the quality of the data. Some strands of their genetic code seem to have been damaged and/or lost during transmission, as such when I begun my experimentation. The Subject seemed to just... never cease its growth! Over the course of several cycles they went from a Pup to well past the size of most average Slugcats.
Requiring some intervention and rechecking of my data, I managed to stunt their growth before it caused irreversible damage to their bodily functions. As of writing this log they have reached approximately the size of an average Lizard! Some further modification was required to ensure they suffered no ill effects from my mistake. Despite this the Subject seems very... affectionate, hes already taken well to my attempts at teaching him a form of communication! Fuzes has suggested a few names, interestingly enough he was able to source a Work Uniform that was large enough to fit my Test Subject. I've even granted the subject a Citizen ID!
With any luck, I can teach my new 'Citizen' the basics of engineering and so forth. We've got plenty of Cycles to learn...
If any new major developments come forth, I'll document them here.
