Heeeeeey. So THAT'S what he happens to look like!
Happens to make the story a bit more interesting when the main character gets a visual reference.
Plus it's an eye catching design. I'm pretty sure its the tail that does it. Besides, you happen to have a back story/epilogue for him, pitting that on I can say.. his personality fits. At least in my opinion and all.
