After several months of searching my soul and a few corners of Craigslist, Ebay and other channels, I have come to a decision. Pictured here is the iron steed that shall accompany me this July for the trip.
1987 Honda VF700 Magna
- 12139 miles
- 55+ MPG
- Shaft-Driven (Preferrable for Highway travel)
- 699cc V4 four-stroke engine
- 116 MPH Top Speed
- DOHC, Liquid-Cooled, 6-Speed
- 81 HP @ 10000 RPM
- 46 FT.LBS of Torque
- 530 LBS Wet
It's going to cost me a tad bit more than I intended originally to spend, but coming from a dealership, I can start paying on it now, and make gradual payments until I get back, by which time it will be paid off. This also comes as a benefit, because while I'd probably have spent an extra $1000 on fixing up a used bike from a private owner, buying from this dealership ensures it is in top condition, and includes an impressive warranty.
So, now that THAT's taken care of... who wants to be pestered by a Joey? =D
For those of you that DO want me to visit, I strongly suggest either noting me, emailing me, or hitting me on YIM or SL and giving me your address and phone number, because I need to start hashing out this travel plan, like... NOW.
NOTE: I DID NOT TAKE THIS PHOTOGRAPH - I claim no credit for it, it's purpose here is just to illustrate to friends what I'm discussing. Hence why it's in my Scraps.

She is older, yes, but she's good for her age. Bikes have the benefit over cars as they last longer, and tend to have way less milage.
Also, the most important thing is her surviving the trip this summer, which it will do in spades. I don't plan on driving her too hard, so she should last plenty long. I figure I'll outgrow her long before I break her.
