The first quadrupedal steps are being taken by a "newly hesiarr" individual after willingly being transformed into one from his previous human body, by a mysterious ancient device.
The first steps are a bit unsure, but when he gets the hang of it, soon more tests await!

Indeed he is awkward in his pose and movement at first. He does have instincts to control these things but his (rational) consciousness is the least adapted to it since it still needs time and experience to catch up with the instincts.
The webbing is quite flexible and evolved in a way in which the side digits can still easily grasp things by bending downwards and rotating a bit, and the webbing has the biggest surface area when the digits are extended to the sides, thus interfering with grabbing less.
I'm not sure if they can bend their neck almost completely backwards but it does have a better range of motion than human necks, especially in the pitching axis like you mentioned.
Hesiarr ears have a new design, closer to what they originally had actually. I wanted those to have a sort of finned appearance, I don't like the simple pointed ear shape much.
Hehe thanks, and yeah their eyes have a sharp contrast, kinda the aesthetic of a solar eclipse.
Yep this training/testing facility has a priority in safety for these first tests, later on he can experience more intense and dangerous things too of course ^^

Yep you got it right on the first guess, it's a tunnel crawling exercise.
It has some escape hatches dwon there so no need to worry.
And yep, when swimming, the ears fold back in a shape that acts like a half-pipe letting water flow easily along, also the ear ridges can flatten somewhat.
