The old sheep in particular felt it necessary to remind the rat that his gluttony would catch up with him. Others, however, gradually got used to it, for as he gained weight and continued to enjoy three square meals a day, the usually unpleasant rat became far easier to tolerate, now much more cheerful and gregarious. The larger he grew, the easier to get along with he became. The fatter he became, the happier he became also."
