Haha, I know the feeling... I recently got an old-school $10 as change at a local taco shop, and I was like "Man... I didn't even know these were still in circulation!"

You know, as a register people: I seem to be getting those alot lately!
Perhaps they're some how making a come-back from something? :P

Wow, that is pretty cool to get an antique dollar bill from an ATM! 2 dollar bills are discontinued, but they are cool to see as well.

I go to the bank and ask them to cash a really big check in $2 bills. It's hilarious, but they can't say no! Lots of banks have a huge supply of $2 bills, since no one wants them, and a lot of people don't even know they exist!

send me one. canadians dont know U.S. $2 exist.

No they're not. They just don't get printed often due to low usage.

I don't know. I only have a 5 and some 1's. I don't have enough to even try to trade up.

hehe well.. last time i went to the bank to get american money they gave me brand new 1986 bills... hehe even the place i bought stuff were impressed by the bills.. o.O

I have two 5 dollar bills that say at the bottom under Lincoln's pic "Five Dollars In Silver" etc. Both are 1934, series A and B. Bought them from my till at work under the eye of my supervisor so I wouldn't get in trouble. Got them in a deposit (work at a bank) and was like "Hey! Lookit these! Dibs! I'm switching them out!" XD I also have some ones floating around my room somewhere that are also "exchangable" for silver. Not sure where they're at atm. *facepaw*

I think about a few weeks ago. I still see these kind of 20 dollar bills every now and then.

They do show up, yeah- but they're getting more and more uncommon.

The oldest bill I have is a special edition NZ$10 from 2000 since all pre 1999 bills have been removed from circulation. But I’ve found old coins going back as far as the 30s still in circulation until they changed the coin sizes recently.

Yeah- oldest US coins I've found in circulation go back to the late '40s.

The impressive thing is those coins were demonetized in 1967 yet many remained in circulation because their decimal replacements had the same dimensions until 2006.

It's been a while...

I used to work at a bank... When I found old paper money... usually from the 1920s or 1930s I would buy it. I worked there for 3 years. Face value I have about $1200 worth. I have no idea if its actually worth anything more to collectors.... they just looked cool.

I went to the atm yesturday and got a 20 dollar bill from 1988

I have a few of those in my wallet right now I just got them from the bank :D

Nice find! The oldest bill I own is a $5 silver certificate from about 1925.
