Coming back to this later, wow that was word salad. What I mean is, each individual part of the reference is first being done on its own canvas, which allows us to have those pieces be as 'big' as possible - in other words as high resolution as possible so they can be zoomed in on to inspect finer details. When these all come together it may inevitably be necessary to shrink some down to make them fit on one concise reference that can actually be sent to artists. So my true reference, the one where nothing was held back, is eight files at 300-600MB each for a total of 3.57GB.
