Trying to make a character for myself, I've never done it before but I'm quickly realizing how much work is required to make one. Regardless, here's the direction I was thinking of going in for the head. Still a lot more work needed on it, but I feel this is a good start. (:

*Nose poke* He looks so friendly How I wish creatures like this existed in real life. I envy your coloring sir, the textures make your paintings looks so stylized and attractive. Did you pioneer this method? If not may I know what technique you are using? (I do not mean this in an insulting manner, I'm just curious)
I did not pioneer this method. In fact, it's the opposite, the way I paint has been around for a loooooong time. I just try to paint in the traditional oil painting technique similar to what old masters do, which has more focus on shapes rather than line work (as opposed to comic book and traditional animation work where you do pencil drawing, ink/line work, then fill in color). The use of texture is there to simulate the more traditional feel of the technique and make it feel raw.
