28/01/2026 EDIT: I've done a radical recolor of Alessio and changes the design a bit, inspired by a *CERTAIN* character which by the time I get some human Alessio art you'll realize, I've finally decided on a color for the belt pants and shoes, since I made the character in... 2015? Count Alessio Varani the Third (1979 - 2030) [49 - 100];
"The Cursed son of the Varani family, he inherited his title after his father died under mysterious circumstances. Alessio lived since the age of 15 locked up in his room by his own will, fearing the reaction to his abnormal body and the powers gifted by the curse itself which were slowly eating at his sanity. It wasn't until the come back of his little Brother Michele and meeting his future wife Maria that things got better, it would take just one mistake to ruin the rest of his life, but instead he’d fall into oblivion rejecting the very thing he was looking forward all his life, accepting his cursed fate and not letting it stop living his best life."

[Physical]
An eight-foot-tall humanoid, unnaturally thin with bone white(#E3DAC9) not-quite-skin, too smooth, like marble and but too flexible, like hide. The top of his bald head has sharp triangular gill like slits rather than hair, the gills slightly moves when he breaths in and out, in rhythm with his breath, similar are on his arms and neck, they would open to allow in air when breathing in, and close when he wasn't breathing, his entire body functions almost like a bellows.

He has no mouth, not of the traditional sort, instead three gaping vents, vertical where a human's mouth would be, he can close them making his truly mouthless. His mouth is where he exhales and where he speaks, he would breathe in building capacity of air before exhaling until he runs out of air or finishes speaking, the words would hiss out between his mouth vents like an accordion, but the magic happens in the necks, his tone is akin to docile whisper and worried sighs, when surprised or scared his voice sounds more like Gasping.
Hidden is rows of razor sharp teeth, which Alessio is very self conscious as he feels like it makes him feel like a monster, still when eating certain foods, Alessio can crack open his mouth, a painful act which is essentially like breaking your jaw, to be able to eat foods that don’t fit in his vent holes.

In place of eyes, there are black(#000000), lightless pits filled with black ichor which constantly leaks down his cheeks, the leaking increases or decreases depending on the mood but it doesn't affect Alessio health too much. Additionally in case of extreme emotions, his eyes will glow up, this is due to the curse and it’s lights up, which makes for a poor poker face, Alessio is very self conscious about this fact.

Alessio tongue is slender and slick, segmented and pointed at the end, looking more like a tentacle than a tongue.
It is longer than a human one, can be as long as 3'5ft but not limited to that; this is a feature that Maria enjoys a lot.

Alessio usually is restricted to eating liquids such as soups or tiny things such as chips, otherwise they don't fit inside his vented mouth, but he can still eat larger foods by unhinging his jaw and opening the side of his mouth to reveal a fanged serrated maw, which is more akin to a meat grinder. But even with the freedom, his mouth still has the vents which act more like sutures that keep it from fully opening, so when he eats, he does so from where his cheeks used to be. With this new mouth his voice becomes more gravelly and deeper sounding.

His hands are covered in jet black(#4D4D4D/#343434) scales from the middle of the forearms and downwards, four finger that were like wicked talons(#0E0E10) which they are almost symmetrical, two long fingers of the same length on the middle with two others while the first finger was half the length of the middle fingers and the last finger was shorter but extra jointed almost like a thumb.
The hand was attached to long, lanky arms. His feet too, are taloned, two toes covered in thick, dark scales, a third toe sticking out from the heels, corvid.

Alongside his overall look, another feature from his Enotria mother is a small arrowhead tail akin to a stereotypical devil, barely 5 inches long. Alessio is incredibly embarrassed by it, and will try to hide it and avoid confirming it’s existence, it wiggles like a dog tail when Alessio is happy excited.
When flustred or giving in to his more primal desires, his tail can grow up to 1’5ft long.
When in his feral form, his tail grows 8ft long, gaining girth and heft; to the point of becoming a weapon.

Despite how he looks, Alessio is not like this due to the curse, it’s more akin to a genetic anomaly, similar to his brother, he inherited most of his humanoid mother features but still keeping his father corvid features, making him look like this, but any alteration from his base form are caused by the curse.

On the centre of his chest there is a Gem which contains three colours, Forest Green(#228B22), Savoy Blue(#4B61D1) and Tyrian Purple(#66023C). These three colours represent in order from Appearance, the Varani Family, Affiliation with The Curse and Nobility. Usually, the Gem colour are 2/4 Green, 1/4 Blue, 1/4 Purple. The distribution can change depending on various Physical States Alessio finds himself.
The Curse(Blue) will never fully take over the Varani(Green) unless a specific event in which Alessio fully succumbs to the Curse.
NOTE: The Gem will never be removed, it will always appear even if Alessio transforms into something else the Gem will stay at the chest of who/whatever he transformed into but perhaps change colour.

He can fully blank his face, by closing both eyes and mouth, giving him a mannequin look, usually he does this only when sleeping but he might do this out of embarrassment too. A Side effect of that is that his gills will produce more Ichor then normal usually leading to the staining of clothing worn over them.

His "blood" which we will call Ichor(#000000) is like all Miasmatic Creatures is oily and mildly acidic. Excess or spent Ichor is discarded through mostly the eyes but does leak through the vents and the slits. In case of emotional distress, the Ichor becomes more fluid which causes Alessio to leak more but does help in case of flight or fight situations.
Like all Miasmatic Creatures, his Ichor is not only poisonous but will cause the Miasma Sickness due to being too close proximity to Him or direct contact with his fluids.

Alessio doesn't have any organs, the only organs he has are Heart and Lungs, everything else is managed by his internal mana and humors. This does mean he lacks have a brain, instead his Ichor also acts as a Brain, this is the usual for most Miasmatic Creatures. In fact, his skin acts more as an exoskeleton as he has no internal skeletal structure.
At Birth, Alessio had more organs but even at birth he had less then the usual amount for his species, essentially the bare minimum.

Alessio body is naturally cold at 20°C, his body temperature is linked with his "Abilities" and Emotions; he's immune to up to -35°C to cold, rather he becomes uncomfortable hot at 32°C and gets a heatstroke at 37°C. When he's in love or drain Life, his temperature rises to 26°C, Blood offers warmth up to 24°C, both temperature he describes as "Very Pleasant" and "Makes me feel Alive".

He has the ability is to manipulate shadows, given by the curse as way to soften the pot so to speak. He can use shadows grab objects and manipulate them, obscure lighting. All of this causes his temperature to drop to 10°C, which is very uncomfortable for him, sometimes even bellow if he uses too much Mana. Mana isn't a free resource as it uses life force, Alessio is largely immune to this effect but he still has a need to refill his mana by regaining warmth which is achieved by sapping away life force of other beings, this is done largely in two ways, by drinking blood or use his Abilities to drain them into a lifeless husk. When he uses his mana, his form changes to be more savage, his claws turn longer and more wicked and his slits open slightly to act more as saws then gills.

The Curse doesn't just manifest in needs for Blood and Eldritch Abilities, Alessio has the ability to mutate his body, the most common is as mentioned the creation of a fanged mouth, but he's also able to grow his claws and talons in size, change the legs to digitigrade and extend it's gills to form as spikes and saws on his arms, spine and head. Alessio would never willingly do this as he fears doing these actions saps away at his humanity, and he feels he has none to spare.

If Alessio is under a great deal of stress as a natural defence mechanism he can transform into a huge feral beast, growing to 10ft in size and with the features described earlier all at once, while he's conscious he's not exactly in control of his body and when he's in this beast-like form he can cause a lot of harm even to those he loves. Such defence mechanism can also be triggered by both having drank any blood or having his Mana at a very low stage, if he drinks or even so much as smells Blood, his need for it goes tenfold and the bloodlust might overpower him and trigger such mechanism. When it starts it usually is that he lacks any control, his body acts as if it's in auto-pilot, as if by instinct alone, if calmed down or satisfied he may go back in control of his body, which can be of benefit if he's in danger as it allows him for feats of normally unusual heroism, unfortunately each time the transformation happens it leads him to enter a depressive mood due to losing control, even worse if he harmed someone.

Alessio is technically immortal as long as the Curse is alive, he doesn’t grow old as long as he drinks blood and drinking blood rejuvenates him from injuries to ageing. In fact while the official time of death is 2030 (that was due to an old lore reason I haven’t decided his death yet) theoretically, as long as the curse lives and there is a blood supply, Alessio is immortal, albeit he’s still killable via burning(high intensity UV light) and Brute damage(being harmed a powerful kinetic weapons enough times) can still kill Alessio.

[Clothing]
Alessio's Clothing is tailor made for him with expensive materials that resist his Ichor natural corrosion.

-Eerie Black(#1B1B1B) button-up shirt, around his neck he wears a Savoy Blue(#4B61D1) Puff Tie.
-Ivory(#FFFFF0) Double breasted Waistcoat with Gold(#FFD700) Buttons, the vest contains a Forest Green(#228B22) Handkerchief on the top left pocket and two Tyrian Purple(#66023C) arm garters.

When he's in his Manor or Alone he usually wears his sleeves up to allow better breathing.

Sometimes he doesn't use the mask if he's comfortable enough. This is the type of clothing Alessio wore to his wedding.

Alessio Sleeps with a special absorbent ankle-length Night Jacket to avoid staining and ruining the bed with his Ichor.

When he's 110% sure he's alone and in private, Alessio LOVES to wear thick and heavy Hazmat or Chemical Protection Suits, if possible, in Rubber, once he was in a very specific mood and wasted a lot of the treasury for a custom build Hazmat Suit. Alessio's Custom Hazmat Suit is a meticulously crafted ensemble that combines elements of Victorian-era fashion with a touch of fetishistic appeal.
The suit itself is made out multiple layers of heavy-duty eerie black latex, creating a thick and heavy appearance while providing a skin-tight yet flexible fit that accentuates Alessio's physique. Its glossy surface gleams under any light, adding an air of mystery and allure. The suit covers his entire body, from neck to toe. The suit features a series of metallic spikes adorning the shoulders, chest, and back, adding an aggressive yet refined edge to its appearance. These spikes, lend an air of dominance to Alessio's ensemble. The forest green, savoy blue, and tyrian purple colors, which are Alessio's trademark, are subtly incorporated into the suit's intricate patterns and piping, adding a touch of elegance to its otherwise imposing design:

-M45 Gasmask, the gas mask features a high-quality black rubber facepiece with intricate metalwork and engravings adorning the outer surface and a series of vents and filters that protrude ominously from the front. Its round, mirrored lenses are a deep shade of Tyrian Purple, providing an alluring contrast against the dark rubber of the suit. Each breath serves as a reminder of his submissive role, as if the act of breathing itself reinforces his place as a soldier, fulfilling his desires.

-Spiked Soldier Vest, The Military Vest is made of thick, sturdy leather, dyed in a deep Forest Green hue, starting from the shoulders, the suit features bold, angular spikes protruding outward, adding an intimidating touch to his appearance. The spikes are meticulously placed along the suit's collar and shoulder pads, giving Alessio a formidable and commanding presence. The front of the torso section is adorned with a series of straps, buckles, and fastenings, reminiscent of a soldier's harness they crisscross over the chest. These intricate details not only serve a functional purpose in securing the suit, but also add a touch of military flair to the overall design.

-Savoy blue Cape, with a high collar that reaches up to his chin and falls in a gentle curve around his shoulders, made of a luxurious, heavy fabric that drapes over his body in a way that makes him look both elegant and powerful.

-Tyrian purple reinforced latex Cavalry Gloves, the reinforced sections are positioned in areas prone to impact and abrasion, such as the knuckles and palm, the gloves extend past his wrists, ensuring complete coverage and a seamless connection with the rest of the Hazmat Suit; Upon closer inspection, intricate patterns and textures can be seen on the surface of the gloves. Delicate etchings and embossed designs create an ornate and visually captivating aesthetic. As Alessio moves his hands while wearing the gloves, the latex emits a faint squeak.

-Spiked Biker pants, Silver or golden buckles adorn the waistband and hip handles akin that of a pool toy are present on the side of the pants; The pants seamlessly integrate with the jackboots, ensuring a unified and cohesive look. The cuffs of the pants are tucked into the boots, giving the impression of a continuous, uninterrupted line from ankle to thigh; in Addition the pants are adorned with small spikes, much like the rest of the suit, accentuating the intimidating presence, these spikes serve as both a visual element and a reminder of the boundaries he willingly embraces.

-Thigh-High Jackboots, the boots possess an undeniable presence. They encase Alessio's lower legs in a formidable embrace, extending up to his thighs. It features sturdy soles and reinforced toe caps, ensuring both stability and durability as he navigates hazardous terrains. the weight becomes palpable, each footfall sends a resonating thud through the ground, exuding power and dominance, as he walks, the soles of the boots create a distinct sound that can be described as a deep thud, akin to a heavy object striking a solid surface. It is akin to the reverberation of thunder or the resounding beat of a war drum, capturing the attention of those in the vicinity.

it is his Secret that he would never reveal not even to Maria, despite the fact she knows but doesn't tell him. He loves to roleplay as a Soldier, Alessio wears the suit with a posture of unwavering obedience and submission, his movements are deliberate and precise to convey discipline and control.

[Personality]
Alessio personality shifts during his life, from a peppy and cheerful child, to a melancholic and xenophobic/agrophobic teen and young adult, (don't take world Xenophobic in the modern definition, Xenophobic is taken in the literal definition of the fear of strangers).

Alessio has more phobias but in short, he's afraid of stranger and afraid of leaving his room, thinking he's only safe inside the 4 walls of his room, he fears that people will think of him as a beast or monster that doesn't deserve to live, he thinks that his own life is worthless and that if he stopped living nobody would miss him and that maybe he'd even stop being a burden to his younger brother.

After meeting Maria, Alessio way of thinking shifts, while he's Melancholic he's no longer plagued by the many fears, or at least not at a similar degree as before.

Phersu (Based on the Etruscan word which is where the Latin word Persona is derived from), Alessio Alter-Ego is the polar opposite of Alessio, he's Bragful and Believes that he and by that extent Alessio is the pinnacle of perfection helped by the curse, despite that, he's still apart of Alessio, he's not a different mind, the other side of the same coin.
Both Alessio and the Phersu care for Maria for very if not identical reasons, Phersu recognizes how helpful Maria has been to Alessio fears and is another reason why he likes Maria. Despite what he says and does, Phersu priority is Alessio well being, both physical and emotional, but Alessio distrust his Alter Ego due to the association with the Curse even though Phersu is loyal only to Alessio, even if he recognizes the help of the Curse he's quick to side with Alessio blindly.
Phersu never claims to be the "Real" Alessio, he claims he's the other side of the Coin, apart of Alessio just as how Alessio is apart of Phersu.
Alessio thinks that Phersu is a tumour that he can't rid off.
(An Example of how the two would react to the same situation, let's say a passer-by makes a disgusted look or harmful remark to Alessio; Alessio would simply look down and ignore the person, Phersu would confront the person and shame them for their childish behaviour and remind them that they are no different then he is.)
Phersu likes to represent himself as a corrupted version of Alessio, with longer claws taller and exposed spikes and of course jaw mouth, imagine Feral Alessio but lite.
He can take control of Alessio body, easier when Alessio is willing or he’s unable to contest Phersu (such as if Alessio is knocked out or Asleep, Phersu can take control of his body but he usually wont to that unless Alessio is in dire need of help or he’s unable to Act, Phersu will take control of Alessio to help him.) While he likes taking control once in a while (and sometimes he does take control of Alessio body without his knowledge once in a while) but he doesn’t intend to ruin Alessio life and he himself is fine not being in the driver seat but he does enjoy control once in a while.

[Background]
Oldest son of Francesco Varani the Second, his younger brother is Michele Varani the First. The two's mother died shortly after childbirth.

His Mother could be a stranger to Alessio, he knows her only by the words of his father but he always felt guilty thinking about his mother, he feels like it is his fault that her mother died at childbirth, while his Father tries to persuade him into not thinking like that, he can't help but whisper regrets about a choice he made.

Despite not getting along well with his father Alessio did care for him but Alessio always felt like his father didn't care for him, he felt like his fears and concerns were ignored, he never blamed his father for anything that happened but Alessio can't help but feel resentful about Francesco laissez faire attitude towards him.

Michele's company is always a welcomed one, while he has to hide his most soft and casual side to the public to keep up the appearance of a menacing aristocrat, when alone with Alessio, Michele turns into a proper caring sibling, he is always able to bring joy to Alessio life, he doesn't feel like Alessio is a burden for him despite the Struggles Alessio has to deal with, he's ready to deal with them together. Alessio cannot help but feel lesser and more of a failure for not being a good figure for Michele and having his younger brother pretty much take care of him. Despite all of that Alessio cares for Michele deeply despite being unable to prove it with actions.

Towards Maria, Alessio is very loving, as she was the one to make Alessio discover that the world isn't all gloom and doom, "without her, I probably wouldn't be here right now." would say Alessio if asked about it, he deeply cares for Maria even if the two don't see eye to eye on certain aspects, Alessio still would put his own life on the line to protect Maria, if Maria ever went missing or worse, Alessio probably wouldn't be able to survive with such a loss. Maria helps Alessio to be more comfortable and makes him feel loved despite everything. Meanwhile Alessio keeps her from going to extreme or angry, the two often accidentally play "good cop bad cop" routines with Maria threatening someone and Alessio calming her down offering a calmer alternative.

His extended and close Family is all foreign to Alessio, despite being Family Alessio can't help but feel a stranger in his own home as whenever they speak he can't relate at all, feeling like an outsider, an impostor, whenever family visit, Alessio simply locks himself in his own room until they leave, not wanting to put him self in such stressful and humiliating situation.

He despises the Curse, aside from himself the curse is the second biggest blame for his life according to Alessio, he views the curse as an horrible well, curse despite what Michele and his Father think as a condition that despite what it does it's more helpful then harmful once accepted, Alessio cannot accept it and rejects it, thinking the Curse is a deal with the Devil, despite the Fact the curse doesn't actually want to harm Alessio but the way it think it's helping Alessio are very twisted and accidentally cause more harm then good which Alessio sees as malicious and further fuel his burning hatred for the Curse.

Alessio and Michele were home schooled for the first years of their lives before going to a public school, their father wanted Alessio to not get accustomed to the wealth and to interact with their peers some more, after all the school was founded by the Varani.
While going at school he got teased and bullied for his looks, called “Sfigurato” (Disfigured in Italian), he was too fearful to tell his father both because he doesn’t want to prove his bullies right and because he feared his father reaction, Michele was mostly there protecting him from the bullying but it did have an effect on him, on he became less cheery and more weary. His biggest turning point was at his Fifteen birthday, the usual bullies went too far as they decided to try and ruin his birthday by throwing gore from the butcher while he was alone in the forest after being lured away from both Michele and the Party, the immense stress caused Alessio to turn feral and almost slaughter his bullies but Francesco, Alessio’s Father, managed to stop Alessio but at a grave cost as skull shows scars from Alessio attack, having the right eyeholes cracked. Francesco covered up the whole incident, saying it was a wild animal attack. After that Alessio locked himself in his room, as he thought after the incident everyone thought he was a monster, even he thought he was a monster, he feared what would happen beyond the known for walls of his room, the thought of leaving his room filled him with anxiety. He developed a habit where he would drown his sorrows in drinking Wine, usually Tainted Wine from the reserve, which was tainted with blood, he knew that even before which his brother warned him against but he always lied to himself thinking it was normal wine, it made him feel better and that’s all he cared about.

During the year 1999, Alessio out of desperation mostly set foot outside his room to try and look for help to understand his dark powers by asking the Necromancer that was visiting Anlora, Alessio hometown, there he bumps into (literally) into Maria, accidentally dropping his mask which later Maria helps him bring it back to him, there the two starts bonding, Maria shares about her past, despite acting as a confident tomboy, she was exiled from her hometown after rumours started due to her heritage as a Corrupted Cornicula. after a day of trying to find a cure and solve his mysteries, he meets back with Michele, after a rough start with the re-union due to a feral episode from Alessio, to cheer up Alessio, Michele shows his attempt at a cure, which unfortunately doesn’t work and instead momentary kills Alessio allowing him to see beyond the vails of the world and see who really is pulling his strings. After that Michele tries to make it up to him by taking him to eat, there they meet again with Maria working in her own Trattoria, there she makes Alessio some pizza, causing him to open up a little, Michele caught on that Alessio is romantically interested in Maria and invites Maria to the new year party which is going to be taken tonight, Alessio is both happy and worried because while Alessio does like Maria, he thinks he isn’t worthwhile for her.
Maria and Alessio at the party dance and even share a kiss, but unfortunately all this side tracking made Alessio forget about the curse and a prediction that he was warned about, that he’d kill his own father on new years eve, and as predicted it happened.

Alessio went back to hide in his room, but with a lot of help and persuasion from Maria and Michele, Alessio began to open up again, slowly learning that he isn’t the monster he thought himself he was and life got better. Alessio later after two years of courting, married Maria.

At some point in the early 2000's, a personal aircraft crashes not far from the Varani mansion, piloted by one Mallory "Mal" Piers, a Canadian-American who had been hired for a simple photography job only to be shot down by the border patrol of Italy. Taken in by the count, the stranger's injuries were treated and he regained consciousness after a week, finding himself in the strange new land, Italy being assumed to be largely deserted after the cataclysm to the rest of the world. There Alessio learns about the Outside world but also almost harms Mal due to the desperation of finding a cure, but is stopped just intime by Michele.
Despite the ups and downs Alessio discovers that even if he’s monstrous, someone as disconnected from Italian society as Mallory still wasn’t disgusted or fearful even after the attack, this helped Alessio realize that he wasn’t that monster he thought so much, or at least help him not be as fearful to show his self as he was in the past. Mallory unfortunately never came back from Italy and even got his friend Nick stuck inside, the two would later become monsters due to the Cataclsym, Mallory become a Cornicula while Nick became a Bee-like creature, the two live happy in Italy, especially Mallory as she found love in form of one of the Guards in the Villa, a certain Chane. After a year or two later that event, Maria would give birth to a child, the daughter that they called Illia.

One day while mourning his father death’s anniversary, Michele visited him, sharing what he thought was the perfect chance for a cure, and when he finally had chance to Cure his curse once again, he’s been trying since he was fifteen, something he's spent so much time focusing on, he drops his chance as he realizes it was ultimately fruitless. He knows he will eventually be consumed by it as his forefathers were.
But he accepts that inevitability, and instead chooses to embrace the time he has left, rather than risk forsaking what he's achieved beyond his search for a cure, his family and friends, things he never thought he'd have, but managed to get in spite of his curse.

[Trivia]
-Margherita Pizza is Alessio favourite dish, “A kingdom for a slice of Margherita”.
-Pizza Americana (Hotdog slices and French Fries) and Lasagna Bolognese are Phersu favorite dishes, ":I'd KILL for such a Pizza and Lasagna, but Alessio is too much of a coward to admit we enjoys them even more than Margherita.:"
-Despite drinking at least, a bottle of Wine a day (even with the lack of liver and kidneys), Alessio is rather lightweight when it comes to Liquors, he can't hold anything stronger than Wine, even then, he usually drinks Tainted Wine or Sweet Wine rather than usual red Wine but he does drink that plenty too, just not as much as he claims to.
-Giacomo Leopardi is his favourite author; he feels he shares a lot of struggles with Leopardi.
-If he could, Civilization 4 with the Realism Invictus mod would be his favourite videogame of Alessio, he enjoys the Strategy and finds it a bit relaxing. He also enjoys Disco Elysium as the world of the game would feels very familiar and foreign at the same time, still he’d feel it’s a great adventure game but he’d either play the sorry cop or the moralist.
