As a nekomata, Phobos has an incredible amount of raw magical power and ability. He’s not a true shapeshifter, and the ability to change his form is not one of his greatest skills, but he does have the ability to assume one of three separate forms at any point in time: his feline form, his human form, and his hellcat form.

Form A: Nekomata Form

His default form, otherwise known as the “original” Phobos. Phobos in his feline/nekomata form is about the size of a large housecat, but his magical strength and prowess far exceed his diminutive stature and size. Even in his feline form he has the ability to speak and understand human language, stand and walk on his hind legs in bipedal fashion, and he can operate some devices with the help of the opposable thumbs on his front paws.

When his mana runs low and he can no longer uphold his human form, he will be forced to change back into his feline form to recharge. Typically he’ll also change back into this form while he sleeps for personal comfort. He never willingly reveals this form to others, however, unless he trusts them significantly.

Form B: Human Form

The body he appears as in human form was once that of his original human owner, who cared for him when he was still just an ordinary housecat. Over time however he grew exasperated by being treated as nothing more than a pet, turned against his owner, and then killed and swallowed his owner’s body. After doing so, he found himself able to take the form of a human, assuming the visage of his former owner. This form has changed significantly over time into a form that is more “his own” than what it once was when his owner was alive, including a change in skin tone, hair type, and increased height. His ears and tails can be hidden away through additional magic when he assumes this form, but generally he often chooses to let them stay for personal comfort.

Despite appearing in human form his digestive abilities have changed very little, and he cannot properly digest lactose, chocolate, or other foods that are typically unhealthy or otherwise dangerous for felines to eat.

Form C: Hellcat Form

A massive demon cat form that Phobos can transform into at will. His stark increase in size also comes with a startling increase in physical prowess. His speed, strength, and agility are drastically increased, so much so that he can easily rip through solid wood and bone with his now incredible bite strength. Concentrating magical energy within his claws turn them white-hot, and just touching his claws can leave serious burns. Injuries caused by his claws when they are at their hottest are immediately cauterized when they rip through flesh. In addition when he assumes this form all of his magical limitations are entirely uncapped, and he can summon massive fireballs hot enough to level entire forests to ash within the matter of minutes.

Taking on this form for extended periods of time puts an incredible amount of strain on his body, and he’ll need several days to a week minimum to recover before he can properly assume it once again.
