he's a springtail, specifically a protanura species! this genus and coloration is sometimes sold under the name "spanish orange" in the invert/terrarium hobby, although the genera bilobella and yuukianura can be conflated under this trade name too. but, they're all very similar, so he kinda has traits from all three but is a protanura :- ) also, he's tagged as an insect for visibility here, but springtails are not true insects! they are hexapoda, which is the group that contains insects, but they aren't insects themselves

he is also infected with a fantasy strain of the bacteria wolbachia! wolbachia is a germ that spreads primarily from infected females to their eggs, and it stacks the decks in its favor by affecting the reproductive behavior of its' hosts. how it does this varies but it can 'feminize' males and turn them female, or even cause them to reproduce by parthenogenesis (cloning/asexual reproduction). in this guy's case he can just change his gender presentation at will bc yay genderfluidity!
