Winnie, the lovely southern belle was heading back from the barn, worn out from a long morning of heavy work. She was already thinking about all the work that had to be done after lunch... when her attention was grabbed by the ground under her boot giving way.
She wobbled about, looking down quickly. The ground here was wet, and soft. Was this a spring she had never found before? Had something shifted with the water table? But her boot kept squishing in... down... deeper? Was... was this... quicksand?
"Quicksand? Like the movies? Surely that ain't real... just made up?"
The soft, squishy, cool, wet mud that drags you down, deeper into its smothering embrace, until you vanished... surely this wasn't really quicksand?
"If this is real quicksand... ah can show everyone how strong ah am! Pfft, can't no mud get the best of me!"
She held still and watched, as she sank deeper, VERY curious as to what would happen...
