An oppressive fog hung low over the water, clinging to the surface and obscuring the surrounding forest from view. It was difficult for him to see more than a few feet in front of himself despite the fact that the hour must still early, the roiling fog was so dense as to block out the sun above, not even time held power here. The river nestled in the heart of the forest had an almost dreamlike or ethereal quality, so shrouded in mystery as it was. It was near impossible to keep his bearings, he could become well and truly lost in this dreamscape if he was not careful. It was as though he had amnesia, he had traveled such a short distance and yet he could scarcely recall where he had been or where he was going. There was doubtless some sort of magic at play, some safeguard of nature itself to protect the secrets that must be lurking in that mist. He pressed onward into the depths of the fog, deeper into the dream.
