Day 165

After losing my companion, there was nothing more to do besides hide from the outside world. Groups are becoming harder to find the longer this wears on, and I’m just glad I managed to find this quartet when I did.

I often wondered if those responsible for what happened to our world can still live with themselves. Then I would remember – they are completely incapable of any level of introspection, like a number of others I became separated from. There’s always someone else they can blame for their own actions, a fall guy they can pin everything on, a marginalised group they see as worthy of any and all contempt. It happened time and again throughout history, and has happened again now.

Still, I know it’s better to do something instead of just sitting there waiting to die. I had all but given up when I found these four, who welcomed me with open arms. I allowed them to use my camp, and while it’s not a permanent home for us, it’s one that will work out for now. Now, we just need to figure out where we go from here. Is there a settlement we can move to? Wherever one may be, we need to move soon.
