Poak is such a good fellow... Total vibes of the baker from Kiki's Delivery Service from him; ironic since yinglets don't appear to be able to eat grain starches. Maybe root starches like manioc or potato? Can't think of a similar character vibe with another food profession and similar disposition just off hand.
Probably that Zeska that Zally mentioned in the last page, and that's probably the same Yinglet that was brought up in the conversation between Feeeena and Vesaria earlier. We knew she wasn't really transferred away based on Feeeena's reaction to being asked if she was, and now it seems we know that she ran away all on her own.
Poak looks big and stupid, so folks tend to not notice him so much when he watches. Yet, at the end of things, what he is doing is basicly running the logistics for the enclave. That means hes gotta keep track of a whole heck of a lot of things, not just making sure that there is enough food, but, storeing the food, making sure it goes to where it needs to go, and other things. Takes brains and patance to do that. Now I am not saying hes very intelligent, but, he is not as stupid as people think.
Heck, if he was not so assured in playing the big goof I would consider that it was an act, but, I think its how he really is, and it works so well to hide whats happening behind the scenes as it where.
This is not the first time hes offered a comment that was seemingly off topic, but, was helpfull. Oddly enough, think of when he offered Elim a clam, just being friendly, but, it also seemed to really lift the mood of what was happening at the momant, and he treated Elim with some respect. Not the respect of a lesser to a superior, but, more on an equil footing, saying if you will, position and race is not important, you seem a little stressed, try a clam, they help me feel better.
None of the patriarchs are as simple as they appear, but then, none of the girls are as well I expect. Look at Pek, look at, goodness, I can't remember her name, the really meek one.

You do not rise to the rank of patriarch by being an average yinglet. All the patriarch have to have a trick in their sleeve to keep the position. He is the patriarch of food stuff but hunting, scavenging, farming and trading are managed by other patriarch. He control no method to gather the food. He has to be in good term with a lot of person to get the food. Be friendly to everyone is his way to stay in power. A worried Kattajak is less likely to be as effective to bring hunted prey that an happy one. This is kinda like Chakki using her sex appeal to get the work done. Poak is good at his stuff because everyone like him and want to cooperate with him.
Chakki is male, even if he is very much a bottom.
Considering how low the bar is set by the average yinglet, does not take all that much. Still, logistics is a hell of a lot harder to manage that people expect. After all, all lagistics is is moving crap around, not getting, or making the crap, but, lagistics fail, and the whole house falls down. Don';t matter how much food is brought in, if its never where it needs to be, it goes to waste, same with most everything else.
Chakki and Kattajak are more obvious and visable in that they produce the supply, Poak is in the backgound, easy to forget, and he takes advantage of that fact.

you would be surprised how easy it is to shape a piece of scrap into a decent shape and blade using just rocks. The right rocks make excellent sharpening stones, they just aren't as easy to use or as good as a whetstone and grinder. That one looks like a full tang leather wrapped or wooden handle. I would bet he's got more than just the one.
You know you've got a real friend when they don't even comment when you pull a knife on them.
Also I think I'm going to compile a list of all the Yinglets I know who are genuinely out to make life better for everyone around them. Even if it's just by making them feel a little better. So far I have Vizlet, Vesaria, Poak and Chakki.

Hello, OOPs lovers! I'm here to remind you once again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
OOPs closed out last month at 44th place and about 929 votes, the highest ranking it's reached yet. It's currently at 263 votes and 58th place. The top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

Perhaps I've seen too many books and movies with shocking betrayals lately. But at the moment I'm getting an "evil vizier" vibe off of Poak. Like, he's playing the friendly yet surprisingly perceptive guide, but I'm waiting for him to reveal he's been playing everyone for his own nefarious purposes.
Then again, everyone in the comic seems to be doing that. With a few folks being used as playing pieces, and trying desperately to be players instead.

Everybody likes Poak except me; I love Poak. It's not hard to love someone who's thoughtful, caring, helpful, and carries a good attitude and is likely a very optimistic fellow as well. And Poak always has a habit of showing up where he's needed.
Speaking of which, where's Kass? There's someone I think he really needs to meet in order to lift his spirits.
Okay, this is an edit, but I just remembered their last meeting didn't go so well since Poak thought he was going to get lucky. Gonna have to get past that awkward hurdle first, lol.
