Twitters highly used and many artists I like tend to post there more than anywhere else.

...Not defending twitter or them on it, but thats probably why. Maybe people just think art places like Furaffinity are "old fashion" or some nonsense.

1.) That was then, this is now.

2.) You don't get reach in an recommendation-algorithm dominated site like Twitter without already having a lot of reach. That's especially true now that the algorithm has been changed to push the hell out of checkmark-havers over everyone else. Y'ain't getting big without giving a billionaire money on Twitter anymore. You're just pissing into the ocean there.

3.) Twitter has always been a garbage site for artists. People were complaining about their favorite artists going Twitter-only for years even before Musk turned it into his glass-walled toilet.

4.) Disregarding all that, this is clearly not about established artists on Twitter. This is about people deciding that now is the perfect time to open a new account on a website whose 1-year survival prognosis is really grim.
