(Old Art) Lioness with Spear
More art of the lioness concept I had a few years ago. I imagined a scenario where she is shaving her mane at night around a fire, when another one of the characters approaches her. This other character is an ant, who is naturally very curious. The ant asks the lioness why she shaves her fur, and the lioness answers to keep her looking more feminine. The lioness has to explain that she was born a male, but is a female now.
Ants in real life, and in my story concept, are mostly female. The only males are the male reproductives, who don't live very long, as their sole purpose is to mate with female alates. The ant is concerned about how the lioness became a female, wondering if lions can change their sex easily, like some other species of animals.
I just wanted it to be a cute little scene demonstrating the curiosity of the ant character. The ants in my story were meant to kind of be like the dwarves in other fantasy stories, they're kind of shut ins and don't know much about the world around them.
