When derelict vessels with no survivors on board are discovered, the reason for this is often attributed to a creature with an almost mythic status: The so called 'Wreck Wraith'.
The existence of this creature is disputed, and it's surely just a coincidence that it's description is suspiciously similar to that of a synth who works in search & rescue...
