Multipurpose Analysis Probe, Thordonian constructs designed for observation and menial tasks.
They have been nicknamed Ophanims for their conjoined wheel external frames. These frames support two groups of four antimatter reaction jets on opposite sides of the body and six tool modules for onboard factories, manipulators, and specialized sensor clusters. The central cavity in the frame of the craft supports the spherical control module, which houses the processing unit, kugelblitz matter to energy conversion core, and active fuel reserves.
Although rare due to their limitations in FTL space travel, probes equipped with Thordonian consciousness processors are given the Thord classification of construct with consciousness.
The depicted scene shows a MAP currently taking data from close range observation of Triton's surface and clouded atmosphere. Battlecruiser Cyriontas stands by in orbit for the MAP to return, as the probe is not equipped with a warp drive to quickly leave the system. The contrast has been increased greatly due to the lack of light from the distant sun, allowing the probe to be distinguished from the visible darkness of space.
Before I took this scene I was unaware Triton had clouds to begin with. I googled it and found that these clouds are composed of nitrogen ice particles and a haze composed of hydrocarbons and nitriles stirred up by radiation from the sun. Incredible.
I got this information from the great website of information and enlightenment, Wikipedia. Here's the link if you want to learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_Triton
