The bodywork isn't necessary for operation, so it's stripped to be sold as scrap metal. 2CV's engine is extremely reliable, because it doesn't have unnecessary parts. No belts, no ECUs, no complicated injection or turbo systems. The fan, piston crank shaft, alternator, starter, it's all connected to the same shaft. Everything is manual; first versions even had windscreen wipers operated by hand. IMHO it was the pinnacle of the human car industry. Only reason they stopped producing it, is because you only buy it once, it never fails. :)

Funny enough, I seen few of those roaming my neighbourhood. But nowdays the scrappers are swiching over to horses and donkeys. Grass is free, you get free fertilizer, and if it breaks, you can call your butcher friend and have a month's worth of meat.

Lol, cool. I always like cars like that. Simplicity is better. Today's cars are way overcomplicated and often that makes the lifespan of the vehicle shorter and repairs and maintenance more difficult and expensive

Wow, thats weird hearing about animal drawn carts coming back. But yeah, thats a good point. grass is free, free fertilizer and you dont exactly need a fast vehicle if you're constantly stopping to dig through recycleables
